BGA School Representative Responsibilities

  1. Host one BGA school coffee per year
  2. Introduce our group to the Principal and meet once per year
  3. Market our BGA events in PTSA newsletter (if not done by Stephanie) and via flyer postings at school
  4. Bring school based issues and needs to awareness of BGA leadership

Bellevue Gifted Alliance Norms

  1. BGA leadership team addresses issues that affect each and every child in gifted/AL, identified and unidentified.  (We can discuss specific issues regarding our own children outside of meetings)
  2. BGA respects the timing of the agenda—we won’t take 30 minutes on something that was slated for 5 minutes.  The meetings will start and end on time.  If you arrive late, please don’t interrupt the meeting to get caught up.
  3. If a person can’t make a meeting, he/she can send his/her viewpoint to the secretary via email.
  4. What is said in the meeting stays in the meeting, including notes/minutes.  If we decide to share minutes/notes outside our group, it must be a group decision.
  5. Give members the benefit of the doubt if a mistake is made.  Mistakes should be owned.
  6. Members will be respectful to one another during meetings, encouraging open thoughts and feedback.
  7. Encourage members and constituents to be direct in feedback.  It reduces triangulation, reduces the burden on a third party, and reduces miscommunication (and drama).
  8. To be in the leadership group, a member must come to 50% of the meetings.
  9. If you sign up to volunteer at an Event and cannot come, please find a substitute.
